I can't remember where I saw it, but somewhere there was a facsimile of Mays' signature, and when I saw it, it dawned on me. I figured it out, and thought, "Oh, now I see." Apparently when he signs, it is a quick, sloppy version of a signature that actually looks decent.
Big Hurt, that's nothing, I've got something like a 1991 Donruss signed by Maddux, it looks like a big "G" scrawled across the card. Of course I didn't pay any money for it, he signed it for free.
speaking of autographs, I have a ton. from modern players to 1953 Archives, to NASCAR drivers. my favorite of all is Andre Dawson's. he has a nice sig. I mailed a whole baseball to Hank Aaron, c/o Atlanta Braves. He actually signed the ball and sent it back to me.
the auto in this Heritage auction looks great...I wish he would sign his stuff like this one all the time. Very legible and magnificient. I can also see the evolutionary process of how he went from the TCMA auto to his current one.
