Willie Mays Signature - What on Earth is he writing?

It's sure not "Wille Mays". Anybody have a clue on this?

If you really want a mystery check out the sig of Greg Maddux!

  • I'm no expert but I have a few Willie Sigs.. I like you have wondered what the Heck it says and my best guess is 4 EVER MAYS :IMO

  • It looks like Willie Mays to me. Just a screwy W.

I've seen a lot worse sigs than his.

I can't remember where I saw it, but somewhere there was a facsimile of Mays' signature, and when I saw it, it dawned on me. I figured it out, and thought, "Oh, now I see." Apparently when he signs, it is a quick, sloppy version of a signature that actually looks decent.
The beatings will continue until morale improves.
  • i like the willie mays autograph on his 59 topps card. any one have his legit auto from the 1950's that you can post a pic of.

I'd be P.O.'ed if I paid good money for this autograph.

  • Big Hurt, that's nothing, I've got something like a 1991 Donruss signed by Maddux, it looks like a big "G" scrawled across the card. Of course I didn't pay any money for it, he signed it for free.

speaking of autographs, I have a ton. from modern players to 1953 Archives, to NASCAR drivers. my favorite of all is Andre Dawson's. he has a nice sig. I mailed a whole baseball to Hank Aaron, c/o Atlanta Braves. He actually signed the ball and sent it back to me.

sorry I got off subject there.
I thought it was, and then it was.
  • the auto in this Heritage auction looks great...I wish he would sign his stuff like this one all the time. Very legible and magnificient. I can also see the evolutionary process of how he went from the TCMA auto to his current one.
