. . . putting "Topps" on the cellophane wrapping for their factory sets? I have '92 complete and '92 Topps Traded sets in cellophane that is completely unmarked.

The earliest factory sets that I know of is 1974 which coincides with the removal of "series" from packs.
I would not be surprises if all were sealed way back to that date.

I've heard that factory sets were available in 1972 and 1973.
<< <i>I always heard 1974 was the first factory set (the first non-series issue of Topps cards). I do know that there were several 3rd party vendors that compiled factory sets in the late '60's and probably further back. Look at any old Street and Smiths annual from the late '60's and you'll find them advertised in the back. I recall a complete '67 Topps set would sell for $12.95. >>
Dude,
Re: Street & Smiths annual
I believe you are talking about hand collated sets, not factory sets.
I can not prove that Topps factory sets existed in 1972 and 1973, but I have heard from reliable sources that they did. I also found a thread (in the CU forum archives) which briefly mentions the existence of 1972 Topps factory sets.
And also, do you think Dan will figure out that Coolidge took off his colar when he put this face of Eve showed up and he put a chick in his sig line? Guess you can have your "Cake" and eat it too! Looks like he got up early today!

I have a 1989 Topps Factory set and a 1990 Bowman factory set with no markings on the cellophane as well. I believe it was sometime between 1995 - 1997 when they began marking the cellophane.
