Society of Silver Dollars Collectors update

First let me start with an apology to those of you who in the past 4 years have tried repeatedly to become members of the SSDC (Society of Silver Dollar Collectors) without avail. Jeff Oxman, who is one of the nicest people (and knowledgeable) you'll ever meet, just got overwhelmed and the membership suffered. If you sent in a check, it likely never got cashed.

Now, backing up to the FUN show, LAST year. At that point, I took over the helm of the club and started working on the massive pile of checks that Jeff had accumulated. I created a database of potential members and took all the checks and sent out letters to all the people who had submitted anything since 2002. After about a year of working on that list, as well as moving the whole business to North Carolina from California, I believe we have the club up and running. I finally got the checking account moved about 2 weeks ago, effectively completing the move. I sent out the membership cards for the people who had signed up since December and a new report on VAMs by Jeff that is truly amazing. VAMs have truly come of age and this report reflects that. It has the auction results for a recent collection of Top100 and Hot50 VAMs that was sold in December or Jan., and the awesome money that they brought.

Anyway, to the point. I would like to invite the US Coin Forum to send questions and ideas to me on what we can do to make the club what you would like to see. Jeff Oxman still the President and now he is in a position to answer the toughest questions, with a whole network of regional directors to help with the easier ones. Not to get this off topic but I had been on a waiting list with Dr Fey for the next reprinting of the 8TF Guide. I got an email Tuesday informing me they had arrived. I placed my order and have the book in hand today. Dr Fey indicated he had a limited number of copies so if you need a copy of this attribution guide, you may want to email Dr Fey to see if he has any more copies available.
