Better pics of the colors on the 1821 Farthing ...

Still not exactly right, but a LOT closer than the first pics ...

Very pretty, I tend to disagree with its netgrading, although I haven't seen it in hand.

No sir. I just took your pictures and went into Photo Shop and lightened them up a hair. Again, a Pretty Coin.

  • I agree. It's a gem.
Life got you down? Listen to John Coltrane.
  • OK I think I am going to be slated for this opinion,
First, I love the bull necked portrait of George IIII - I know George IIII hated it - I think he was wrong.
Second, I admit to being red - green color/colour blind.
This coin does nothing for me:-
Grade EF, scratched with reverse pitting.
I have looked at thousands of 1821 farthings, and tone / colour looks odd. (to a colourblind person!!)
Everyone else likes it - so where am I going wrong?
    Is it a colour thing?

    Teg
  • Teg, you are correct in describing the two issues with the coin. That's why it was net graded to AU50 by Anacs. But to see the coin in hand, is a different thing. I was never able to get good pics of it. The coin is mostly purple with rainbow toning around the periphery of the obv, and partially around on the rev. image
