I Get Kicks out of Grading Descriptions

71 Topps Rose

From the sellers description which he shouts in ALL CAPS ...

NEAR MINT (ESPECIALLY FOR 71 TOPPS)

Huh? So Near Mint means something different depending on which set you're talking about.

THE IMAGE IS JUST AN IMAGE SAMPLE, PLEASE READ COMPLETE DESCRIPTION. THE ACTUAL CARD IS NEAR MINT.60/40

I hope the image is not the actual card. The image is nowhere close to 60/40. If the card for sale is so much better, why in the world would you use such a crappy scan?

4 CORNERS RETAIN THEIR SHARPNESS BUT SOME WEAR

Are the corners sharp or do they show wear?

1 TINY BEND ... SEVERAL NICKS ... SOME BORDER WEAR ... SLIGHT INDENTATION ON PETE'S CHEEKBONE ... VERY,VERY SLIGHT BEND AT TOP OF CARD ... SEVERAL TINY, TINY HAIRLINE SCRATCHES

So how do you justify calling it Near Mint?

FANTASTIC INVESTMENT!!! THIS CARD IS A GEM.

Should I bid on it and submit to PRO?

71 Topps is an especially hard set to find in good condition. I think that what he's trying to convey.

Sure it is. The black borders make it tough because they show chips and wear so easily. That is the whole point of why these cards are tough to find in NRMT. However they don't get a break in grading due to this. A NRMT 71 Topps card should be in the same condition as a NRMT 72 card.

In defense of the guy all of his feedback is from buyers. Seems he sells raw cards and those that have purchased from him (at least those willing to leave feedback) were happy. I see he sold a Munson rookie for 24.00
