4-sharp-corners-football on ebay pulls a fast one.

I was the winning bidder for a 1998 topps Randy Moss PSA 10 Gem Mint. I paid $28.45 for the card. When I took the card out of the bubble envelope, I noticed that the card slides up and down in its holder. Also the card has visible damage in two areas. The right corner is frayed and a little to the left of the damaged corner is a chip about 3/16 of a inch. The card was not damaged in shipping because when I took a closer look at the scan on the Ebay auction I saw the damaged area's. Also the bubble envelope had no damage to it. When I notified the seller they stated that PSA graded it a 10 so take it up with them and they would not refund my money. I notified PSA but they have not responded. I am aware that PSA will buy back any card that does not fit their grade but they haven't responded its been 4 weeks since I emailed them. I feel that 4-sharp-corners should of sent the card back to PSA instead of ripping me off. I am going to contact PSA again but I will be out money for shipping cost to send the card to PSA.

i dont understand.. you're saying that the card doesnt meet PSA 10 standards? or is the holder broken?

How did you fund the transaction?

  • WOW!!! That's sad... I have brought a lot of cards from them and they have been nothing but helpful and very professional. I just spent several hundreds dollars!!!

  • I just checked their feedback and they have over 10,000 positive and only three negative. Did you talk to them on the phone?

sounds like the PSA holder was defective and allowed the card to move too much. I have this on a couple of 1955 Topps All american's, so I just don't handle them that much. Since 4sharp corners is such a large dealer, maybe they shuffle around their inventory too much.

Not a good position to be in, but I am unsure if the seller is really at fault. Guess it would have been nice if they said the card moves in the holder, but that probably asking for too much honesty.
Running an Ebay store sure takes a lot more time than a person would think!
  • The holder is not damaged just the card.
  • I payed with paypal.

I've purchased from 4sharp too and they have been fine. If the cert checks out, PSA should fix it.

sounds like psa's responsibility. I don;t think 4 sharp is pulling a fast one. with the volume they do , they probalby get the cards back sort them by grade and sell them. I doubt they are examining the cards to verify that the card is 10 worthy. they could technically give a refund but the real issue is with psa.

  • I would never sell a PSA card that moves around in its holder and has visible damage. All I was asking for is a little honesty. I was the only bidder on this item and a repeat customer. I won't do anymore business with this company so in the long run they will lose money.

Suppose they are unaware of the situation? maybe 1 more email?
    Good for you.

Could provide a good scan of the card? Would be interested in seeing what you have described.

    Thanx

edit: what's 4sharps return policy on graded? Did they provide an adequate scan? This is important unless they presume everyone buys the holder rather than the card?
    Mike
  • I tried to produce a scan but was unable to. I am not very computer savy.
  • If I was you... Don't give up that easy! They didn't get over 10,000 positive feedbacks by not taking care of Customers. If I was you... I would pull their contact information and call them on the phone.

As I always say... "BAD NEWS TRAVELS TEN TIMES FASTER THEN GOOD NEWS"!!! Just by posting your question here could hurt their business... I am a little surprise they stated it was not their business... If they knew it was loose and then didn't state it! HMMM... If you can't get a scan what was the item number?

WOW! Did you say that you email PSA four weeks a go to they have not replied back? That can't be right... Every time I email PSA I get a reply with minutes. I would call them with something like this problem.

Let us know how it turns out... GOOD Luck!

I think I speak for most of their customers when I state that I am more than happy with all of my purchases.

That being said, it's apparent they do a tremendous amount of volume...I doubt they have the ability to carefully inspect every single one of their submissions back to verify the cards are worthy of the grade it received. It's possible it even left their hands in pristine condition, and the damage done en route.

I would contact PSA again, and see what (if any) recourse you have with them.

I never get quick e-mail replies from PSA. Not surprised there . . .

Your message to 4SC may have been interpreted as - "This PSA 10 card doesn't look like a PSA 10 to me. I want a refund". That being the case, I can see why they might tell you to take your issue up with the grading company. The grading company assigned the grade, not them. Of course, they could be nice about it and since you are talking about a small $28 purchase, it is a tiny price to pay to keep a customer happy.
