Went to a coin store today

Had the day off so I decided to visit a coin shop. I usually don't buy coins from the local shops because their pricing is usually very high and I have to pay 8.25% more for a coin because of our local sales tax. But I decided to give this new shop, actually an old shop but new owner, a try.

This is what I picked up. Did I do OK?

(32) pre-1900 copper coins at 10c each (junk box)

GB 1775 Halfpenny Good $1.50

GB 1843 Halfcrown G-VG $10.00

GB 1872 Gothic Florin VGish $7.50

PEI 1871 Cent VF $2.00

France 1866A 1 Fr. G/AG $2.00 Oh well, it is silver

Swiss 1876 1 Fr. Fine $2.50

All in all a nice trip. Very friendly dealer.

Is there any sales tax exemption in New York on larger purposes? In California if you buy more than $1000 worth of coins on a single invoice they are free from sales tax.

No sales tax exemptions that I know of. But I rarely ever buy more than $1000 worth of coins at one time.

Thanks, just curious in case I ever hit a coin show/shop in New york. If I'm close I'll usually buy something else just to get over the hump.

No higher grade darkside stuff. Like most of the dealers around here, he is liteside. He said he just got a foreign coin collection in but hasn't inventoried it yet. I told him to keep me in mind if he gets any $100-$1000 coins in. He sets up at one of the local shows so I'll see him every month.
