lol I play the $15-$30 tables at PP image. Never even heard of pacific poker site though, till they sent me that 10 dollar sign up bonus. Best I've ever done online as far as a tourney goes is 7th on pokerstars and 2nd at a live tourney at a casino near Albuquerque. Neither of which compare to 15-30, 1000 dollar pots about 5 times an hour lol. I only play $15-$30 on PP and play most of my tourneys on pokerstars. We should play sometime image

Pacific has great action but the software is so amazingly bad and you can only play one table- i prefer 2-4 tables. I actually don't play party any more because their limits aren't high enough and the 30/60 is a joke with 50 on the waitlist at all times. Give Aces a try- they're an upstart and just started advertising on espn.com. The problem is no mid stakes most of the time. 50/100 usually plays which is why I'm there, and the next highest is usually 5/10. All tables in between are empty, but the 50/100 is usually very profitable if you have that kind of bank roll. Congrats on the win by the way- I rarely play tourneys and when I do I usually regret it.

  • I've never even tried 30-60, mostly because like you said, the wait on PP is 5 hours long. I dont like playing anything but tourneys on ps's because I personally dont like their software much. I think it tosses up flushes and straights every other hand. PP is where I like to play my money games, but I'd definantly like to check that site out. 50-100 might be out of my league though. I've only been out of college for 4 years now and am working on buying my first home. Between that, my gf, all the other bills, my collection, poker and trying to save at the same time..I find myself pretty stretched. If I do eventually work my bankroll up, maybe I'll see you at the 50-100.

PS. I agree about pacific, its really ghetto lol. And what kind of bank roll do you need to play on 50-100? 8-10k? If so i'm almost 3/4s of the way there.

$10k is definitely enough to play, but I believe you should be very well bankrolled for any game because it will improve your comfort level and you won't play as tight. For example, you may hit a bad run right off the bat and drop $2000-3000, and after that you're willingness to "gamble" would die quick and you will slowly whittle down your bank roll because you're playing too tight. Soon after, the bankroll you spent so much time building is down to nothing. This is coming from personal experience. I would recommend having at least $15k. The most difficult adjustment to make when you jump from Mid-High stakes to High stakes is the fact that more pots can be bought, you just have to determine which ones. Unlike 15/30 where you will probably get called down by somebody who flopped a low or middle pair, you can sometimes get certain guys off those hands. And if you don't feel comfortable being that aggressive, then you can still do well by determining when others are most likely bluffing and calling with a small pair or ace high. There's always adjustments to make when jumping up in stakes, and I think it's important to have enough money behind you to take a bit of a loss trying to make those changes. Seems like you're doing very well so far, and you're not going to find a better game 15/30 game than party's. Is this what you do for a living, or are you supplementing your income by playing?

  • No Lee, I only play for "fun". I work for a health care corp. full time. I know all about bad runs, as there are days when I can magically drop off anywhere from 500-1k, even on a 15-30. I can only imagine a huge bad run on a 50-100 table. But another thing you mentioned which I have noticed coming up is people are less and less likely to call with crap as you move up in blinds. Though there is still the ahole on every once in awhile who will call you just trying to river you. I actually thought about this convo. while at work today. I figured my est. of 8-10k might be low balling it considering if you went all the way with a hand and had a caller and lost you could lose 1k-1,200 in one hand. And you have the exp. with higher limit that I don't, so I'll take your advice. This is only my second run. My first one ended about October of last year with me up to about 5.5k. I decided to take the money out at the time and focus on other things. But the bug bit me again about early January and I'm tryin to make a huge run this time. Both times I started with a 500 dollar bankroll, so I figure I'm not doin bad image. So now that I know and totally agree that 15k is a great starting point for 50-100, (Im about halfway there) maybe mid summer I'll see you at the 50-100's on that site image. If things go steady like they have been. I've been grinding a bit lately, dont ask me why. Anyways, thanks for the advice Lee, always great to hear from a more exp. player.
