Good evening Fellas!
I'm just sharing the good news with my fellow collectors. I just had my grades posted on a 50 coin lot of 1971 topps coins I sent in a couple of weeks ago. Here's the breakdown of the best grades:
24 were 8's, 13 were 9's, and 2 were 10's. For a closer look go to submission # 568253, zip 56537.

From what I can tell here's what makes a coin worth grading or not.
** A clean rim on the front with no wear. Minor wear coins will be 6's-8's.
** A centered picture is a must for a high grade. I've had 3-4 that have had
great rims and backs but the pictures weren't centered and they came
back 6's. The 3 10's I have all have perfectly centered pictures and no
problems on the front or back. Plus the centering of the writing on the back
is important.
** No dents on the front rims and if a dent is on the back edges, the smaller
the better. I had a Clemente that was clean all around with a pretty big
dent on the back rim that was given a 6. Whereas, a Munson that had all
the same qualities with a small dent on the rim ended up a 9.
** Take a close look at the pictures. Any little scratch will take a coin from a 9
type quality to a 7/8 usually.
** Minor printing lines on the back aren't all that bad. Two of the 9's I have do
have lines on the backs that look like scratches but were caused by the printing
process.
** Some coins have pitting or rust, whatever you want to call it. These will be 6's
and 7's usually if they have great pictures, no dents, or scratches.
Hope that helps in your coin selections!
