I've bought 10-15 cards on Naxcom, and I've had good luck--and even gotten a bargain or two. Once or twice the dealer no longer had the card in stock, so they refunded my payment. Otherwise, no problems.
NAXCOM buyer protection seems far superior than EBAY'S. You pay NAXCOM and they hold back the seller's money for a while. If you don't get the cards the seller doesn't get the cash. The more money you try saving on EBAY the bigger the risk you take.
I saw the buyer protection on Naxco, and that does sound like a pretty good thing...However what's to stop someone from saying they never recieved their card or cards when they actually did? Is the seller SOL? As far as ebay I never bid on anyones auction that has a feedback rating of below 99.0. Most of the time it's 99.5. So far so good...knock on wood.
"However what's to stop someone from saying they never recieved their card or cards when they actually did?" I sell on Naxcom, and ALWAYS use Del. Confirmation, and have zero reversals against me. (Well over 300 sales) The downside on Naxcom is high transaction fees.
I have used Naxcom once, but have found the site too difficult to navigate and search for items that I am looking for. This is probably just because I have not spent a lot of time looking at the site, but it does not seem user friendly to me at all.
For example, how do you search for vintage PSA cards from a given year and sport?
I bookmarked this page awhile back, and maybe it will help you. It contains links to vintage cards, but I don't know how you get to it from the home page. I agree with you that the site is hard to navigate.
The Naxcom website is really difficult to use. Dealers usually mark their sell prices way higher than on their own websites. When they start at that level, it is really hard to make a fair offer.
NAXCOM>>>I think a best offer concept might get more action on these cards. The cards I checked are SMR or better. I think most buyers would rather chase a card up (having a chance at a good deal) than just buying outright at top dollar.
Dealers do seem to regard NAXCOM as a place to fish for newbies who click the Buy button before doing any research. However, you are allowed to post an offer and if it's within 25% of the asking price an email is automatically sent to the seller. If it's not within 25% the seller is not notified and the offer sits there waiting for him or someone else to accept your bid.
I have bought half a dozen cards that way -- two of them several months after I posted my offer and had long forgotten about it. I'd already acquired those two cards on eBay and forgot to remove those offers from NAXCOM. That's the risky thing if you forget, because NAXCOM simply bills your credit card if a seller accepts the offer.
I don't like selling there because I get better results on eBay and it's more cost-efficient, too.
I have had sellers accept my offers which were a lot lower than 75% of their sell price. Any seller can look through his listings (hundreds to a page) and see the highest buy offer on each item he has up for sale.
I've also sold a few cards there. It's a good place to put up stuff you're not in any hurry to sell, but have no need to keep (e.g., duplicates or cards you've upgraded).
I just bought from Naxcom for the first time - 6 Dwight Stephenson rookies for 30 cents each plus $2.20 shipping. Not a bad deal - but I'm curious to see how well the condition corresponds to the description (NM/MT). My 2 biggest complaints are the lact of pictures (most dealers don't include pictures of raw cards) and the difficulty in navigation.

Collecting vintage auto'd fb cards and Dan Marino cards!!
I just received both orders that I bought over Naxcom was fairly pleased. I bought a PSA 8 1959 Detroit Lions team card from NearMint and was thrilled w/ the price and service. I also bought 6 Dwight Stephenson rookies for 30 cents each. All were described as NM/MT - none were gradeable w/ the centering being the key issue. I can't really complain when I bought them for 30 cents each.

Koby, why does this surprise you? On their own websites, they don't have to pay any extra fees.
