How will HOF voters treat Steroid Era stars?

500 HR is still an automatic ticket to a first ballot HOF'er. McGwire will be the first test of the 500 HR ticket in 2007. Bonds, Sosa, and maybe even Palmiero may not make it the first time. The are a bunch of sluggers within striking distance of 500 HR.......Dave Kingman might finally give up the "Most HR not in the HOF" crown".

Of current player the "sure fire" first timer list just got a lot shorter: Griffey, Clemens, Randy Johnson, and Maddux. A-Rod, Jeter, Schilling, and Pedro are just outside the door.

Bonds They Hate him I doubt they would vote him in 1st time anyway ( Kinda a slap back )
    Sosa is a 1st rounder
    Palmiero is a 1st rounder.

I hope that Sammy doesn't get in at all, let alone the first ballot. Obviously he will get in if he continues to lie about not taking 'roids and baseball continues to allow him to "skate" and not answer questions. There are a lot of us in Chicago who have know for years what a joke, cheater, and a selfish player that Sosa is. He sucked when he was with the White Sox, but at least he wasn't too much of a jerk. People who paid attention in Chicago have always known what a "tool" he has been since his trade to the North Side.

Even if those with 500 do get in Kingman will relinquish the crown to Canseco. I think he has 10 more then Kong. then you have McGriff too.

was it just me or did Palmiero's face look gaunt when he was on tv the other day? compared to his viagra commercial it sure was. I was hoping he would have been clean thru all this but it seems even he appears to have been infected as well. Seems everywhere Canseco went guys became MVPs or ran up huge home run totals. or both. In any event they all will be enshrined, but not on the first ballot. Makes what Mcgriff and Griffey accomplished that much more worthy.

    Good for you.
  • When you look at who's responsible for voting them in it could be quite a challenge. Writers wish they had the talent to play instead of just writing about those who do. Deep down inside this would make them very jealous of any player who reached HOF consideration by what many would consider cheating. And for a conspiracy theory, voting them in would make for very boring news. Not voting them in would sell lots of books and newspapers, and make them the American Heroes they long to be.
