Crossover minimum grade

Newbie question. I am a Hank Aaron collector and have decided to switch my graded cards from BVG to PSA and then continue on collecting PSA (mainly because of availability). I need recommendations on what minimum grade to accept. I have a 1964 Topps Stand-Up graded BVG 8 and would hate to see it come back to low, but am committed to going with PSA. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

If you want it to move to a PSA holder no matter what, don't specify a min. grade (or submit raw) and hope for the best. If you think it's undergraded and you know PSA's criteria pretty well, definitely crack it out and submit raw. Once I bought a 1964 Koufax BVG 6.5 because I thought it was graded too harshly, and successfully crossed it (raw) to PSA 8.
As far as Beckett grading goes, BGS is an expensive joke (the whole 9.5 brainwash) and BCCG is a cheap joke (as in literally funny), but BVG isn't too bad on the vintage material. They have a whole different grading staff for vintage. I've had good luck crossing those to PSA, never losing more than a half-point on the 'tweeners. That's fine with me, because PSA 7 is generally worth more in the marketplace than BVG 7.5. I want PSA anyway for my registries and greater liquidity.

Make SURE you specify "1" ( inthe right hand column under min. grade) as the minimum grade other wise they will crack it out, and put "evid trim" and you get zippo. The raw card back with no hlder at all. I keep making this mistake and having to resubit.
