1934 Goudey set that sold individually on ebay recently

Legacy Sports Rarities just sold a 1934 Goudey PSA graded set last night, in many different auctions. Basically they broke up a set of PSA 4 through PSA 7s, it looked like mostly PSA 6 cards. From my quick calculation, it seemed they got something like 90% of SMR for the whole set. I was just wondering if this was sound strategy for them - as compared to selling the set as a whole set. I have been reading that complete sets of some of the older "in-demand" sets were trading at the same level as the sum of the parts or even higher. Any thoughts? If you were the seller, knowing what you knew now, what would you do? Keep in mind the individual fees for all those auctions is probably a touch higher than one sale, not to mention the headache of dealing with 60 to 80 different buyers compared to one buyer.

I would of thought that the set would of gone for more than 90 percent of SMR. Eye Appeal can be all over the place for an individual grade which may have been a reason for the less the stellar results.

I was surprised to see those cards do so poorly. In hindsight, I'm sure the seller wishes that he kept the set intact and tried to sell it intact with a reasonable reserve.

    90% sounds low.
