David - When a new coin (e.g. the California State Quarter) first arrives at PCGS for grading, how do the graders know what a full strike should look like? In other words, how do they assess the detail in the devices and judge it to be a full strike?
I've wondered about this lately, given all the new quarter and nickel designs.
Thanks,
Mike

Hi Mike,
It's actually pretty easy to tell what a full stikre should look like. The design devices are obvious and any incompleteness is easy to see.
Thanks,
David
