I was just experimenting with this recently. I wanted to put cards in pennysleeves and then in the ultra pro binder pages. They fit, but sort of cause a bubble in the binder page. I came to the conclusion that I don't think it's necessary. Also, it seems as if unecessary pressue was being applied to the cards.
I'd be interested in knowing what anyone thinks of this, too. I thought there was a thread earlier that said you should still use sleeves, but a card in the sleeve doesn't seem to slip into the pockets very well.
"Charlie, here comes the deuce. And when you speak of me, speak well."
As long as the card is completely covered and not sticking out of the top, penny sleeves should not be necessary. Some pages the top row always seems to be cut short so I use penny sleeves on the cards in the top row. Another thing is to store them upright and not stacked.
<< <i>Does anyone know what the difference is between Ultra Pro platinum and silver? >>
I use the Platinum sleves in conjunction with pages, and they fit perfectly. Whenever I used the silver ones, it tended to be a *tad* too big, so they'd bubble up in the middle a bit. I believe that the only difference is that the Platinum sleeves are made for using with pages, as they are narrower than the silver ones, which work fine with toploaders, etc.
I use sleeves with my pages, as when I didn't before, the surfaces tended to get rubbed a bit by the opening and closing of the book, so I'd suggest it's a VERY good idea to use sleeves with pages..
Just my opinion; I'm not as much of a long-timer as some on here..

<< <i>Did you mean to say that you use the platimum ultra pro pages in conjunction with penny sleeves? >>
No.. Ultra-Pro makes regular and Platinum sleeves as well. Up here in Canada, I can buy a pack of 100 regular sleeves for $1.00 Canadian, or the Platinum sleeves for $2.50. I can't really tell you what the platinum pages are, unfortunately.

Personally, I like to do it that way so all the weight of the cards and other binders isnt coming down on all the cards. Alot of my older cards are stored in BCW pages and over time the cards end up stuck to the pages. It seems to work better to store them like books in a bookshelf to help with this problem. Plus the cards being stored upright will tend to not creep out of the top of the pockets.
I just bought an UltraPro D-Ring Binder from Toys R US. It includes 10 UltraPro hologram series pages (9 pocket pages). It was $9.99 plus CA sales tax. I had a gift certificate. Was that at least an OK price otherwise? I have nothing to compare it to.
I also have the UltraPro Platinum penny sleeves and even the UltraPro Platinum pages from a previous purchase online. I am preparing to get organized with my collection so I am making sure I have all the supplies on hand before putting all cards out on the table.
What is the difference between the platinum pages vs the hologram pages? My goal is to put my cards in platinum penny sleeves and insert them in platinum pages.... The hologram pages just would not be a match, so I will save it until a suitable use comes a long.

Those are Ultra-Pro platinum sleeves. Use them with your pages.
I would if I could.
