1969 Topps Baseball Cards: Yellowing Backs

I bought some 1969 Topps baseball cards recently. Some of the backs of the cards are yellowish compared to others which are basically white. What would cause this? Overall the cards are in pretty decent shape.

Fading from exposure to light is the culprit.
  • How would a card grade if the front was PSA 7-like but the back was slightly yellowed?

On PSA's website when they discuss grading standards but they don't talk about yellowed backs much. I guess basically I would like to know how much does this knock off when grading.
  • yellow backs? are they related to the infamous heritage light backs?
  • A761506 if a card is yellowed in the back can it still get a PSA 6 if the front is nice and the corners have little wear? Would it get the dreaded ST qualifier?

    maybe they're Milton Bradley ;-)
I am actively buying MIKE SCHMIDT gem mint baseball cards. Also looking for any 19th century cabinets of Philadephia Nationals. Please PM with additional details.

I would guess a badly faded card would grade no higher than a 5 no matter what the rest of the card looked like, but don't quote me on that.

    HEH
  • The backs are not faded but are of a darker color (brownish). Maybe yellowish was a bad term. Hmm...they were stored for a long time in PVC 9 pocket pages. I wonder if that caused it.
