Thank you for posting this as I have used it several times to figure out grades.

However I just ran into a coin that is graded as ZFR (Zeer Fraai?), any ideas on what this grade would mean?

    thanks in advance image

    Good stuff image

One correction and addition though: On AU/vz-st it's "fast stempelglanz" (not "vast"). And "fast" is a useful word to know as it is not just used on that grade. It means "almost" and is tacked onto other grades denoting a grade minus (fast sehr schön = almost VF = VF-).

Also, on ebay and in common usage a lot of people just say stempelglanz, skipping bankfrisch as a hard grade. Erstabschlag is literally "first strike", so technically it is more like a specimen. Another is proof = polierte platte.

ZFR or Zeer Fraai is Dutch for VF, very fine. While we're at it, the Dutch spectrum: VG/ZG/zeer goed, F/Fr/fraai, VF/ZF/ZFR/zeer fraai, XF/PR/prachtig, UNC/FDC/fleur de coin or ongecirculeerd (FDC usually refers more to mint sets or Gem UNC). Another commonly seen Dutch word, "mooie" means "beautiful".. not a technical grading point.

I would never have guessed that mooie means that, since its a bad thing to say about something in the US image
