Oh, yeah ... that ticks me off, too image
Seems like the bidder just doesn't have a price in mind before bidding. Sometimes it's a shill bidder doing the same thing to help his seller get the most for an item. Watch and see if that item comes up for auction again within the next few weeks by the same seller. That'll tell you it was a shill bidder.

Well I know it wasn't a shill cause the action I was bidding on was that of a forum member in good standing. It was just something I've really wanted and have been looking for. Yes, I wanted it but I wasn't going to go into hock for it eitherimage

I had to quit logging on to "watch" the auctions end 'cause I had a tendency to increase my bids at the last minute. I spent way too much for some stuff image

  • Sounds like "I want a deal" weasel to me. They don't know what it was worth, just hoping to pick it up cheap.

Aww it's okay I need not to whine. I've had coin troubles all day. I just noticed that a coin I paid $200 bucks in a PCGS coffin is wrong. IT was suppose to be a type-1 1976-S clad PR69DCAM Ike dollar when in fact it is a 1976-S type-2 PR69DCAM dollar. Big price difference between the two. Anyway PCGS has it attributed as a type-1 PR69DCAM. What is funny is it was part of my registry set and I didn't even notice until I retired the set and was taking new pics of themimage

They'll refund the current market price difference, will they not? Send David a PM about it.

Never had that problem, But then most of my bids only leave 2 seconds for somebody to beat meimage

Mac is right. The big TPGs will refund you for your purchase if a coin is misgraded, damaged inside the holder or misattributed. I have gone through that process before with another TPG for having a damaged coin.

PCGS wants me to send the mis-attributed Ike dollar back to them on a submission form and write on the form "mechanical error". That's all well and fine but I don't need another type 2 Ike dollar as I already have on in my set. I would really like a type 1 dollar or paid for the mis-attributed coin. I emailed customer service since my phone call was short and maybe I didn't describe my problem well enough. We shall wait and see.

There is no crime in trying to get something cheap at auction. What is the difference if someone bids in little increments or bids their highest amount right off the bat?
  • Sniiiiiiiiiiiiiiipe!!!!!
Never give them the chance to bid you up.

Does anyone remember the days before internet auctions when there was an auctioneer rattling out the price in little increments? Hmmm? That's what makes auction insteresting.
