GAI 1st Graded / 1st Issue Question

I don't know if this has been covered before, and I apologize if it has, but what is the difference betweem GAI's 1st Graded and 1st Issue designation. If I remember correctly, 1st Graded is the first 25 cards in that particular grade. I have never heard anything about a 1st issue before.

Thanks for your replies.

  • First graded is given to the first card card graded in that grade of the particular card.

1st issue is the old designation used when they first started (within the first couple months).
A dealer told me the 1st issue were used for the first 10 of that card
graded which is a stupid concept in itself. It didn't last long and changed to 1st graded
as you see today. You can have a total of 19 different 1st graded of a particular card
(ie 52 topps Mantle) ranging from 1 - 10 including all the half grades.

Really? My source told me that there is only one first graded, and it is given to the first graded card in that grade of a card. (As east texas said)The first issue goes to the first 50 grades of a particular card. My connection is pretty much reliable, but there's always a chance he may be wrong.

GAI has some interesting new concepts,
but the 'first graded' thing isn't one of them.

I mean what frickin' difference could it possibly make to anyone ?
