PCGS will grade it EF-40, unless it has been cleaned.

Do you think any of these haven't been cleaned? It is over 300 years old so it probably has been cleaned sometime. The trick is to decide whether it has been cleaned too much for PCGS to slab it.

I like it and I think PCGS would slab it no problem.

That is pretty much what I was thinking, even if I didn't say it very well. There is a good deal of "give" on a 300+ year old coin.

Looks VF-XF to me, but I'm no expert. I think PCGS will slab it if there are no hairlines from whatever cleaning it may have received.

BTW - I like the look of it

Is that some scratching on the rev. (lower bottom left)? It looks like the capital letters, "A M"....If so, Bag City.

Otherwise, PCGS would probably come in around VF35-45 from what I can see. The curls look a little worn but hey, it's an image! image

    British gVF.

Methinks VF and that Arsenal will lose tomorrow against Blackburn's thugs, widening the gap to 16 points.

I like the coin. It is likely not original, but certainly is not a BB candidate. I think by US standards VF35. This date is tough to grade because of the inconsistent strike and on this example, the reverse looks alittle stronger. It may possibly grade EF40 if the weakness on the obverse is truly due to the weakness of the strike and not wear. If it were my coin, I would submit it.

Experience the World through Numismatics...it's more than you can imagine.

At least I was half right. Blackburn is a thug team.

The saw the game on T.V. I must admit, Arsenal really didn't look that good.
