Of course, PSA 4 is the same as a PSA 9

64 Rose PSA 4

From the description...

"This is a 1964 Topps Pete Rose #125. A card matching this one was sold only a few days ago. The seller was right, the card is very rare. I just happened to have one. The other card was graded a PSA 9 and sold for thousands of dollars. This one is the exact match from the front and back. The only difference is what appears to be tiny ink spots vertically in one line on the back. The spots are hardly noticeable with the naked eye. The slight off-set on the front name plate is typical on all of these cards. The card is straight and stiff with no creases, stains, tears, or bad corners. If the last seller got a PSA 9 then either that card or this card should be re-rated. "

Not only is this PSA 4 every bit as good as the PSA 9, it is straight and stiff as well! image

Must be a crease or wrinkle that he's in denial about. PSA doesn't dump 9 Mint down to 4 VG-EX for the reasons he's stating.

While the scan isn't perfect, it does look like a nice 4.
  • never seen a PSA 9 with a bottom right hand corner like that one.
Now looking for a 1950 Bowman Baseball Box as pictured below.

Even with the seller thinking there isn't much of a difference between a 9 and a 4 (we all know otherwise), what's keeping the price down on this card? I've always been a fan of topps' trophy cards, and this is Rose's first solo card (I really, really don't like his rookie card...the floating heads thing is too creepy).

What's keeping the price down is bidders are thinking that PSA 4 on a nice-looking card must equal a crease or wrinkle.

I must be missing something here - at 40 plus dollars with 2 days to go, this card looks like it's headed above SMR. I don't see anything keeping it down. Straight and stiff is one thing (okay, two things) but the corners on that card look VG-EX to me.

  • He also asks you to add 4% to the total if you are paying with PayPal. I didnt think this was allowed? Maybe Im wrong.

I'd like to see him try to enforce the 4% add on.

another ebay rookie idiot. That 4% add is a nice try. PSA 4 or 9, I mean what's the difference, a few hundred dollars. Isn't $400 the same as $900. LOL

Anyone bother to email the idiot seller?
Running an Ebay store sure takes a lot more time than a person would think!

I didn't mean this auction in particular, I was referring to the overall value of this card?

1967and 1973 Topps baseball wantlists (any condition) welcome. Once had the #14 ATF 1967 set. Yet another collector like skylaneflyer, gimel1 who made it to the completion of 1967 only to need the money more than the company of 609 close friends.
Looking for oddball Norm Cash and Cleon Jones stuff, and 1956 team cards
