Yes, platinum Eagles were counterfeited. Out of South America, I believe.

A buddy of mine from the local coin club has a 1906 SAE. Yes, I said 1906! I'm pretty sure that it's fake.

Didn't ICG identify a fake platinum eagle a couple of years back?

yes- they were doing the small Platinum ones. I think I was the one that pointed out the differences in the rays on the fakes. mike
