Slver Proof State Quarters-Part II

Thanks for all the replies to my 1st thread on this topic.

Was checking out last nights Teletrade auction (2014) under these coins and what I discovered is crazy (can't think of a more appropiate word):

Lot 2034 2005-s Silver PCGS PR70DCAM----$1350

Lot 2035-36 2005-s Silver NGC PR70UC......$210-220

Earlier lots 2005-s Silver PCGS PR69 DCAM....$85-95

There CAN'T be that much difference in the grading services or the look of these coins...makes a newbe wonder if this is artifical!!!!

Can you say...TULIP BULBS,BLOWOFF,MARKET TOP?

Just my observation.

There is very little difference between a PR69 and a PR70. But the reality is that PCGS has put a PR70 grade on very few coins compared to NGC, and people who are doing registry sets (or just want the top graded coins) are willing to pay that price. There are quite a few people chasing very few PCGS PR70 coins and that drives the price up.

New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.
