My $1000 card

For some time now I've been wanting to condense my collection, shed the dross, and prune the deadwood, as it were. You know, sell off all the stale "investments" I've accumulated, the old 1991 UD and Fleer sets I haven't looked at since I completed them, the doubles, and maybe even the singles, out of my star monster box, and flip the aborted PSA sets I've started, and put together enough to buy one great card. I think I'm going to make that my main collecting goal this year, a $1000 card. The most I've spent on any one card so far is a little over $400. I imagine getting a Mayo Cut Plug Anson, or a nice T-206 Cobb Red background or Mantle card, something like that, but I haven't fixed on a target yet. I've started with a money order I received today from a recent sale, so I'm already 1.8% of the way there. This will be sweet, and a great exercise in self-control for me. All the little $5-10 cards I buy will have to be ignored.

That will be a sick auction. Better bring a lot of zeros.
