Will album makers take requests?

This stems from another post. How do the coin album makers decide what portals to include? I noticed that there are several options for the Wash. Statehood Quarters: All 4 versions for ea. state-P,D,S,SilverS, P and D, and a date set album. But how many other series albums offer these options. I'm sure a lot of Morgan collectors would love a really nice date set album. (They do have one, don't they?)

Obviously, they go with what the majority of collectors like.....or do they? Do they go with Redbook listings? I'm not trying to start a conspiracy theory or anything, but wouldn't it be nice to have a date set album for say...... seated lib dimes or certain gold series in which some of the D and C mintmarks are just to pricy? I pick Seated dimes for obvious reasons. Got started in them before I really knew how tough a series it is!

We hear many people on the boards say collect what and how, to a certain extent, you want. And I agree with that. But how many collectors are 'slaves' to the holes? ( I should re-phrase that incase Marty is reading this) Do those empty portals REALLY bother you? Or do you have a collection in an album with empty spots that you still consider more or less complete?

Enough of my questions and more of your thoughts.

My Lincoln Cent album still has two holes (09-S VVDB and 22 Plain) and it's been that way for more than 30 years. I'm comfortable with it.

Capital Plastics will make custom holders (but at a pretty high cost)

Those dumb empty slots in my books really irk me no end. I can't believe the people at Whitman, for instance, that make the books even collect coins. I use the Whitman binders and for my Lincolns I have 11 books now. None are complete thanks to Whitman and their dumb decision to put slots in them for things like the 55 double dies. That's the only one missing in set 1. Set 2 through 7 are all missing 09S VDB, 22 plain, 55 dbl die. I got smart on books 8 through 11 and used a blue permanent marker to cross out the dates and added my own with some little gold stickon date sheets I got from a local coin dealer. When I did that I left out all the stupid ones including proofs. I left the 09S VDB in because it is a REAL coin. That made the books fill up real fast and cheaply. I did the same with some of the Merc and Roosevelt dime books. They fill up jsut fine right from everyday change or a trip to the bank for a bag of whatever. One thing I've pointed out on this forum a few times already is that my son lost interest in coin collecting many years ago when he figured out there is no way he'll ever fill a book because of slots for impossible coins. He even had a book for Liberty Head nickels that had a slot for the 1913. I wonder how many other young kids have stopped for that reason. Whitman and the others sure know how to loose buisness.

I've got an order form in front of me now. Blank pages of just about any coin size from 16mm through 55mm are $4.60 each. Albums are $8.95 and come in several widths. They will gold stamp your own title on the front and spine for another $5.45.

That seems pretty fair pricing and kind of cool with the custom lettering.
