Question about Wayte Raymond albums...

DD Posts: 1,997 ✭✭✭
About how long does it take for quarters to begin toning in these albums? I just bought some quarter albums and tossed a few unc 62/63/64s in there. (About 20) Also, does it matter if the album has been used before?

What kind of climate should they be kept in? Moist? Dry? Inside the safe with the rest of the coins?

Thanks.

  • anywhere from weeks to years, it just depends on so many variables.

still sulfur impregenated even if they hbave been used
it takes moisture/high humidity and heat to make these coins tone in the albums but it is a hit or miss thing depending on lots of varibles and also waht types of coins are in the alblums if they are proof or mintstate circ good luistre and waht contaminants are currently on the coin some you can see saome not so well seen the type of alloy the coin is and the date and series and if the coin has an improper alloy mixutre
will all affect the coins in toning

good luck and keep us on here informed on how this experiment turns out

I remember reading somewhere (one of the books in the ANA correspondence course... I think) that in addition to anything with sulfer, high humidity and dramatic tempeture changes are to be avoided if you want your coins to stay white.

I wonder if the chemicals in the Wayte Raymond boards break down and if so, how quickly?
