1959 Proof set came in... any help for these?

First of all.... yep.... I opened the envelope up. Second.... it was almost impossible to tell what the coins looked like in the cellophane, so I slid the nickel, quarter & half into mylar flips.

Under the right lighting they are gorgeous.





But, under the wrong lighting it's *haze-city*.



Will anything clean up the haze? MS-70?

"read before you bleed"....and rinse if you do dip I prefer hazed original Proofs over dipped - but thats me and my perverse notions of originality - but so many Pr Walkers and Mercs are "unusually" white

MS70 may work for the haze.

yep, go for ms70...i have had good luck with it too for proof haze.

I actually believe in originality too, but I was hoping one of these coins would be fit to send in to PCGS with the two $2-1/2 Indians & two walkers, so I could make up the 5 required. The franky is worse of the two, so I'll probably take a shot at it first. The nickel has a nice deep mirror image with no haze. Is there something in the metal composition that kept it from hazing like the others?

If you use the MS70 - don't go overboard. When I have used MS70 to remove original haze, I have cut it with water - three parts water to one part MS70. This nomally does the trick. If the haze is particularly stubborn, you can always increase the concentration.
