Heritage Checklist for MJ Roop Binders-Input Wanted

I am going to purchase a couple of MJ Roop archiver binders for my 2005 topps heritage set. I am going to break it up this way:

Binder one will house the base set with SPs (56 pages)

Binder two will house the chromes, refractors, non-auto relics, flashbacks, NAPs, and TNs, and whitebacks (62 pages)

MJ Roop, will, for $4.95 make a custom checklist for each binder. What I'd like is input on how you'd format the checklist (especially the base/sp set). I am thinking of bolding the SPs, but am not sure if I want to put the variation name next to each.

Example:

1 Will Harridge
2 Warren Giles
3 Alfonso Soriano
3 Alfonso Soriano (Running) SP
4 Mark Mulder
5 Todd Helton SP
6 Jason Bay
6 Jason Bay (1956 Uniform "P") SP

I'd appreciate any and all feedback on what you all think would make the checklists look the best.

Here you can kind of see the checklist I am talking about.

  • I have master sets for Topps Heritage from 2001-2005. They are the only modern sets I collect. I created checklists that show the SPs in bold with a brief summary of the variation next to it. Initially, I did not describe the variation and I found that I did not remember what the variation was for the year. My summary for the variation is pretty simple. For example, instead of saying "1956 Uniform 'P'" I use "Old Logo." When I go back to review my sets (or build additional sets), it is easy for my to distinguish the variations.

Thanks for the link to their site. Does anyone have any feedback on their archiver boxes or card trays. I've been looking for a way to store the slabs I have laying around.

    Good link!

I have used both, and more than happy with them. I use the boxes for storing my 71 set, and the trays for miscellaneous cards. They look really nice, feel very solid, and stack very nicely.

I've been a big fan of MJ Roop since someone pointed me their way a while back...the prices are fair for what you get, they have top notch customer service, and their flexbility is great.

Using that many pages per binder is going to be a tight fit. I use 44 sheets per Ultra Pro binder with page lifters. If you take into account the curl of the chromes...not sure if you will be able to do it.

I also have all the heritage sets and put them in binders every year. 2002 and 2003 fit in a 2 inch binder, but 01, 04 and later
05 will have to go in 3 inch binders. I don't even know if the master 2005 will fit in a 3 inch with all the light backs.

I also put all the short prints in penny sleeves before I put them in the pockets, which adds to the thickness

I don't make checklists up, I do keep two spots at the end for the actual checklists, of course these dont have the sp's listed on it, but
I can remember. There were two cards in 2001 that didn't exist, if your a heritage buff you just know that....will I remember that in
    10 years who knows?

I put the variations right next to the non-sp's in my set. The high number sp's go in the back and I start over and make a different
section. I would like to see the insert sets go to multiples of 9 instead of 10 but thats ok, its just a little awkard.

I also have taken a cut out of the logo on each pack from 01-05 and taped that onto the spine for identification. This year is a little tricky
with that pitcher...it was nice up until this year, the logos were all baseballs with the word heritage and the year...I guess they needed
a change. I also have one pack from each year, unopened and in a graded card bag..that goes along with the set.

Ive only attempted one chrome set and that has stopped a handful of cards short, I probably will ebay it one day.

Im off to check out the site. Thanks!
