Noise Cancelling Headphones

I was at the airport the over the weekend, and I ran accross a pair of those $200 noise cancelling headphones. Since I never checked them out before, I gave them a try at the store. Pretty cool actually, but $200? Does anyone have a pair of these, and do they use them for metal detecting?

I got a pair for free for taking an American flight to London. Sold on ebay for $330. So $200 is a good deal.
