Shot at a 7?

I'm going to be sending off the first part of my partial 60 set and wanted to get some of the stars graded first. I'm looking to get 7+ on all the ones I'm going to get graded but the only one Im not sure of is this one

It's a bit hard to tell because the scan is on a white background, but the right corners, especially the upper right, could be a bit too soft for a 7. I guess potential submissions are like commas: When in doubt, leave them out.

    Hi Ryan
By the scan you are showing...and this is just a guess? PSA 6. Corners may not be strong enough for a 7.
Nice card tho and I could be playing it safe...could be a slider 7?
So, what the hell do I know? image

Judging by some of my 1968 Topps I just got back in PSA 7 this would be a 6.

It looks like a 6 to me as well. That doesn't mean it's not worth grading though.

  • Scans can be a little deceiving sometimes...sometimes exaggerating corner wear...but I think it looks like a 6....albeit a nice 6 though.

Nice card but no chance whatsoever for a PSA 7. Could even slip to a 5.

Looking at the glass half empty, I say a 6 basis corners and a print spot or two? Best of luck.

in my opinion, i dont think it's a 7.. i just got back a few 1960 Topps, all of which I wanted 8's on.. they all came back 7's except a couple.. and they all had nicer corners than the ones on the right side of that Frank Robinson card..

  • Thanks for the feedback fellas, appriciated. This being my first big submission of older cards I was trying to put together the ones I think will get a 7+, he was the only one I wasnt sure on. Thanks again

  • Scans of cards are kind of hard to judge but from the scan it looks like it has corner wear. I sent a 1970 Topps Lem Barney that had 4 sharp corners and no visible wear. I thought I might receive the first PSA 10 for this card or at the very least a 9. The card was graded a 7. So if you send this in good luck.

If you were not sure if the Robinson would qualify for a 7, you may want to post a couple others borderliners up here before you mail them off if you're looking only for 7's or better. The majority of guys on here are dead-on when it comes to recognizing the grades. That Robinson looks like a 5, perhaps 6, to me.

lol ya, I kinda figured that after pandrews posted up his 7, maybe I'll just shoot for 6's instead haha.

  • I agree. Your looking at a 6, possibly even a 5.

    I would think a PSA 6.
