  • cal gold is a tough one to figure ebay sells some to but you need to be luck to catch you type of coin

    Best I can determine this one should retail for around $325 if it is average for the holder. This variety is one of the most common and listed at R2. Personally I do not even look at Cal gold unless it is at least R4+.
    I collect Capped Bust series by variety in PCGS AU/MS grades.

    Mozin is correct on the common aspect of this particular piece. R2 is quite 'common' in relative terms for cal fractionals. An 838 in 63 from the Jay Roe collection realized $374. Given there was a premium due to the pedigree and the use of this collection as plate coins for the 2nd edition of Breen & Gillio - California Pioneer Fractional Gold - Mozin's estimate of $325 is 'reasonable'
