1829 Half Dime attribution

CladiatorCladiator Posts: 18,042 ✭✭✭✭✭
Just came in the mail today and I'm kinda having a hard time nailing it down with the attribution. I'm thinking it is an LM-5 R-1 but would greatly appreciate any help from my fellow bust lovers image

Edited to add: The pics don't do the colors justice...stunning blues and greens on both sides image

I know, just trying to coax George here. He's the attribution guy for half dimes.

Well, I'm not George, but you got her in one... LM-5. I grade her a solid Fine although the reverse looks much better.

Just because I'm old doesn't mean I don't love to look at a pretty bust.

Outstanding, thanks guys! Looks like my attribution skills may be sharpening up image As for grade I agree on the fine, the obverse is definitely what brings the grade down. If the obverse looked like the reverse I would grade it XF. All in all I think she is going to fit into my set of baby busties beautifully!

Looking at it some more from the stars and the rims I may need to raise my grade to a weakly struck VF. The reverse die had been lapped prior to being married to this obverse die causing a concave appearance (and a weak center) obverse. That's also why the center of the reverse looks so much stronger than the rims.
