Memoribilia Security

I was just wondering what steps most members take with the security of their collections. I know some have safes, but this is more pointed at members who show off their collections. If you have autographed jerseys hanging on the wall, or signed helmets, balls, bats, gloves, pictures, cards, posters, etc., how do you keep them there (if you do anything at all)?

I would like to keep my collection right were it is, but I don't know the first logical step in securing my collectibles, yet allowing them to be displayed proudly to those in my home.

Thank you for your replies!

  • Step 1-my boxer Jade,
    Step 2-my pitbull Rocky,
if those don't work, then we move to step 3, which would be what PA already pointed out.

Of course i would let the bandit chose, but i would probably take one in the leg myself, instead of having my critters let loose.

Other than that, i have been looking at some decent sized fire proof safes (don't have one yet), but then your stuck without being able to display them.

  • One of the most important ways to protect yourself is to make sure that you have proper insurance coverage on the items. Whether it's under your home owners policy or a seperate collection insurance, make sure it's an up to date list with pictures. Remember, fire or flood or other things will destroy just as quick as a robbery that leaves you with nothing. Just my two cents.
