Bullion anyone?

Anyone here collect bullion coinage for collection and not financial reasons. I was looking in one of my Canadian coin binders and was admiring the 4 or 5 canadian 5 doll. Maples (silver) that I had, and even though they are a bullion/unc issue, they really can be nice coins. I went on Ebay today and noticed several Great Britain pound coins as well that were nice. Just wondering, haven't really seen any posts about buying these types of coins.

I collect the silver Britannia in both BU and proof, not really hoping to make any money, I just like 'em.

I just started on silver Britannia's, and I have a couple of silver Maple Leafs, too. I like 'em, but not enough to do a complete "date" set ... just the different "types".

That's how I got sucked into other coins. Now, I collect a new Panda, ASE, Britannia, Maple Leaf, Onza, Kook, Aussie Lunar (one and, now, 10 oz), and Chinese silver fan every year. Now I'm looking at the flower shaped ones from China too. I like the gold bullion too of course, though my Australian lunars are in the petit 1/10 oz. When I'm not doing my coin-per-country set, or my Japanese set, then I can be found staring at medals or gold. My favorite gold 'bullion' is the 1997 Britannia set. Strangely enough, my husband claims that it can't count as a bullion investment if I won't sell image

  • I was actually contemplating doing the date set for the Canadian Maple leafs. When did this set start, I have the 1989 and the 2000-2004. I also saw a few on Ebay with privy marks, I take it they made fewer numbers with those. Interesting stuff.

  • I'm very fond of silver bullion image and I do collect the gold usually in 1/10 oz but the world gold "bullion" coins are great fun. I have a daughter trying to talk me into selling a couple of oz's of gold so she can go to NY in August for a model call, so far I'm resisting but when I move south in June she will give me that "Please Daddy" doe-eyed look of hers and I'll be toast... image
If I decide to sell I'll let everyone here know before I send them off to a bullion buyer.

Mostly gold and some platinum in the 1 troy ounce size. I started with the gold China panda and it is the only series I currently keep up to date. image

I hope so, PP. For such a noble cause such as your daughter's plans, we will all sacrifice. image

Just started a date set of silver Pandas because they are artistically stunning coins. Keeps me busy while waiting for the tough pieces for my collection.

I do the lunar and the ASE.
  • I started with a full set of Eagles, then went for a set of Britannias, now that I have a couple of Pandas and Kookaburras, I will need to complete those sets. After you start with them, it will be hard to stop.
