GB 1806 1/2d opinions

Rediscovered this in my hoard. What are your opinions as to grade / value? Could it be an impaired proof?

EF-AU not a proof IMO but difficult to tell proof from an image.

Can't tell from the image. Is there any reflectivity to the fields?

No reflection, but fields are glass smooth and legends + devices all appear to have square edges.

Gene - I'd say EF also. Nice coin. - Rob

    What ajaan said.

I would say a nice EF, or American AU50, perhaps.

    I personally doubt it's a proof.

    Maybe cleaned?

Add another EF. Non proof is my gut feeling.

  • I would say not a proof - if you want to check look at the edge.
Proofs have a grained or plain edge.
Currency have a grained edge with a security groove cut in.

    Oh EF.

Thanks Teg - Its got the groove so it's a regular issue.

LordM - I believe it is original color with no hairlines

Krause lists it at $65 in EF (it has the berries). What is Spink value?

    Thanks again all,

I am but an old dead king, one of many. My ways are simple as it is with most dead kings, for being dead (unlike living) is a simple thing. I decree that from this day on your coin shall be known as an EF regular issue.
