what a bunch of BS. Never been anywhere before where the Post Office doesnt offer package-pick-up (or mailing for that matter) on a weekend.

That would upset me. I hate when my anxiously anticipated packages don't arrive on Saturday & then I have to wait for Monday. But the
USPS being closed altogether on Saturdays would make me nuts!!

yup....they tried to deliver to the house Yesterday, but of course I wasnt here. they said they'd redeliver on the slip they left, or come pick it up. So, the mail lady came and went and all I got was my coinworld. I was wondering why they didnt "redeliver" today.

so...off I went to the post office and they were, of course, closed.

The post office is open here in Naples, FL until 12:00 Noon on Saturdays. However, the annex (where the registered and insured packages are kept ) is closed on Saturdays. They never try and redeliver registered mail once they tried the first time. It sits in a vault until you go and pick it up between the hours of 9AM and Noon, then again from 1PM to 4:30 PM. My newest mail carrier knows me - quite well - and delivers my packages to my Dad, who is retired, and who lives next door !

Thanks to my work schedule, I was scheduled off today, and a box of twenty regrades from PCGS arrived !
Boy, was I glad I was home !

From what I understand, each Post Master sets their own hours at that post office. I have a post office in the town next to me that has much more convenient hours including before 8am so I can get there before work. The PO in my town is only open from 9 to 5. Makes it difficult to get there during the week.

Half service on Saturday. But the post office is open 24 a day every day (for access to the PO boxes), and with the new automated postal machine, you can accomplish quite a bit -- including mailing anything insured up to $200 -- 24/7. The only thing I haven't figured out is how to combine services like insurance and delivery confirmation. You'd think to maximize revenue they'd make it real easy to combine multiple services...

you just 'think' you have it rough.

My PO closes each and every single day for lunch at 11 AM, and reopens at noon. THEN they CLOSE at four PM, and of course, they are closed on Saturdays.

They have closed our local PO on Saturday as well. Get used to it, eventually all POs will be shut down on Saturday as well as mail delivery.
