Got the Eliasberg world gold coin catalog yesterday...

It's very nice looking. Full color! Cool black cover with the pictures of the gold coins on it (hmm... black and gold coins has a nice ring to it). Although I don't collect world gold, the coins and pictures are cool, and I might find something cheap that catches my eye and try to bid on it! What does everyone else think of the catalog?

I pretty much think the same way. I don't collect world coins, but the catalog is first rate and is an interesting read. I think I'll keep it.

Great catalog. I have a small Byzantine collection and I'll be bidding on a few.

I looked at the coins in Baltimore and there is something there in every price range. Amazing stuff overall and the NGC grading was pretty consistent through out. image

Great catalogue and collection. Only other catalogues that compare are the Stacks catalogues. Anyone see the 3/15 sale? Whew.

Certainly nobody else in the business comes close numismatically speaking.

    Hey Eric,

you would think more people on such a large coin forum would be aware of that. Hmmmmm.

  • The Sale should attract a lot of buyers looking for an inexpensive "Eliasberg" pedigree example. So they may not be that inexpensive!! But the one thing I like is the price ranges they give--nice for really obscure examples which have no price guides. I was suprised by the detail of the descriptions and great photosand will do some research on a few coins that were interesting. A lot more work than figuring what a Morgan is worth, but as said --the price ranges are a help by ANR.

Did anyone notice the coins are not encapsulated just graded by NGC. $10 extra if you then want it in plastic. Great idea as most world gold collectors do not buy coins in plastic.

    BEST OF BOTH WORLDS!!
