baltimore show

I was curious what people thought? The auction for buffalos set records for some coins, and some went realtively cheap. NGC buffalo proofs seemed to being sold at substantial discounts. There was significant bidding from the phone and internet. This seems to be a major change in the aucitons. There seems to be a few expensive coins that have been in dealers cases for 6 months to 2 years. I met a couple new collectors and although there were a few new coins, I thought it was really hard to find great coins at the show. Maybe they are migrating to the auctions.

  • I was wondering about that too. From looking at the offers at Heritage I was starting to get the opinion that the nicer coins went to the auction and the lower coins in a grade were offered as their "buy now". Do you have to join the bidding to get the nicer coins?
  • I believe the buy it now are their coins from inventory.
