Boy did I get a nice surprise today.

I finally received the 1951 Proof Dime that I had ordered from DLRC a little while ago. From the pictures on their website the entire dime appeared to be kind of hazy with some okay eye appeal. It was slabbed in an ICG PR67 slab. Since the coin was intended for my Dansco Album, I cracked it out of the slab. Upon removing from the slab, I noticed that there was no haze on the coin itself. The haze was on the slab! The actual coin is drop dead gorgeous. Even nicer is that if you hold the coin at a very slight angle, you can see a distinct separation between the mirrored fields and the frosted reliefs. It looks cameo to me, and if I can figure out how to get that to show up in the photographs I'll post a pic of that. (With the photos below, the reflection off of the fields kind of drowns out any cameo. Also, if looked at straight on you can't see the separation as well). Still, I only paid $62.00 for this including the shipping. I am VERY happy now. I now have a fully complete set and can just work on upgrades and the yearly additions. image

I collect the elements on the periodic table, and some coins. I have a complete Roosevelt set, and am putting together a set of coins from 1880.
