uncirculated coin designs?

I remember a story I herd a long time ago about a coin. I think it was a dollar. The design had liberty with a breast exposed. And so the design was never relased into circulation.

I was wondering if anyone knows this coin?

Do any examples exist today?

Not that I think I could afford one if it did

(Old man) Look I had a lovely supper, and all I said to my wife was, “That piece of halibut was good enough for Jehovah”.

(Priest) BLASPHEMY he said it again, did you hear him?

  • the Standing liberty quarter had a design featuring Liberty with an exposed breast but due to controversy, it was changed durring the second year of minting, 1917. The new design featured Liberty wearing a chain-mail suit covering her breast. Correct me if i'm wrongimage

The only question is whether or not there was any controversy over the exposed breast. Popular folklore says there was, and Breen liked to blame the Committee for the Suppression of Vice, but there has never been any contemporary evidence presented. No newspaper or magazine editorials, no letters to the editor, no quotes from debate or discussion in the Congressional Record. In short there was NO great outcry for a change. In fact the in house correspondence at the mint relating to the changes made in the design make no mention of the covering of the breast, and go further in that they specificly state that no changes should be made except the ones specified in the letters. There is no evidence that the chain mail and the covering of Liberty was ever authorized.
