Yah, I thought the same thing when I bought my house. I just made the twelth payment on the house. I spent more on coins in the last year than I did on the house. I think once you get your finances lined out, you'll line out your comfort zone and you'll be back in coins. It's an addiction.

Actually, it is not even built yet! It is a brand new town home in a new subdivision. It is one of those crazy "pleasentville" style neighborhoods with tons of styles of condos, townhomes, apartments and mannor homes in it. (I have one of the small townhomes...not the huge mannor homes! ) It has its own publix, bank, restaraunts parks etc. It is wild! It has been building up for two years but the stores are not in yet. I am not buying at the bottom of the market but I am certainly not buying at the top either as there is much more to be constructed. We had to camp out at 6 in the morning and wait for the office tor open at 10 so we could get this place as it is first come first serve. They sell out of the townhomes within 20 or 30 minutes of releasing them!!!!! (Orlando real estate has gone nuts!)

here is a link to the subdivision:

Thaks for all the good wishes!!!!! Guys!!! image

Presumably you have been paying rent or smoe other living expenses so that making house payments is not a major shock to you?

Oh yeah. I have been throwing money away on rent for quite awhile now. It will be nice to at least have it go towards the house for once!

Congrats on the house! When I bought mine, I couldn't collect for quite a while.
  • Man that sound just super wish I was there. We had planned on retireing to NC but I was forced into Early Retirement because of health problems do rightnow that is out. WE did live in the country where there were no stores or banks nothing for 7 miles it's nice to finally be close to everthing.

Most serious collectors I assume already own homes - if you are buying serious coins and you still don't have a piece of property me doesn't think that is smart. Once you have the home...now that is a another story image . Now you need to consider after a good many months (12 months at least imho) if your mortgage payments are being paid seamlessly and without any hardship whatsoever, timely and so on.
Then, you can consider how much equity you have in the home. many folks have taken out HELOC's (home equity line of credit) which is considered a 2nd mortgage but it works great. Sort of a 10 year checkbook with X amount available to spend , pay back, spend etc usually at prime.
Folks on multiple doses of prozac will spend it all and clean the house out for a fix on coins.....and for that matter almost anything you can think of including gambling debt etc. You get the picture.
Mortgages are serious business - but from time to time they come back and unfortunately I need to think stay out of bankruptch/foreclosure strategies and tactics....it's not a pretty sight - so make sure you know what your doing image.

Ah the first year jitters, I remember it well. After a year or so you'll be back into coins, new cars etc. The funny thing is when you buy your next car the price will seem like a joke compared to buying your first property.

    Congratulations!!!imageimage

Congrats, with interest rates still low, you made a wise move.
