Am I missing something here? Brits please comment
I don't get it. I have seen several auctions for 1992/1993 50p pieces depicting the 20th anniversary of Britain's entry into the Common Market (EEC). Many of the raw coins are fetching $15-$30 apiece on ebay. A bulk lot of 20 went for nearly $200.
The same BU coin is found in every 1992 and 1993 Brilliant Uncirculated blister pack. The typical sales prices for whole BU sets is less - anywhere from just under $10 to $25.
What the blazes is going on???

Why do nice Unc. 1953 Pennies bring $20. in some cases when usually no one seems interested in the complete 1953 mint sets (9 coins inc. the penny) for $10? No wonder original mint and proof sets are soooooo scarce.

Have you tried buying the blister pack and cracking it to sell for a profit yet?

The thought had occurred to me, but decimal coins are probably not the best venue to do that.
I'm a bit of a purist. I have broken up only one mint or proof set ever - a 1953 plastic set.
What I still don't get is why people pay more for one coin than for the whole set.
