Is this autographed Mantle really worth $1500?

I could be wrong but I think the seller got lucky and the buyer overpaid. Opinions please.

$1500 Mantle

And whats up with that 1952 and Ruth in the title?

The signature is bold and clean but the card itself is miscut. Mantle autographs on cards are not hard to find at all, so I think the buyer overpaid.

I have no ides what Ruth has to do with this auction. Keyword spamming I guess.

I think the buyer grossly overpaid for this item! The card is authentic but even if it were in great shape - like a 6, when auto'ed the card losses out a bit IMO - so on this one it's the auto value only - Mantle stuff is white hot on ebay lately along with Sandy Koufax. I would say 300-500 range would be about right.
Me personally, wouldn't give more than 200 for the item - but that's my personal opinion.

    The guy got lucky!

  • It looks like the seller pumped this up as the WL variation (THIS BEAUTY IS OVER 10+ TIMES BETTER, BECAUSE IT IS THE FAMOUS 100% AUTHENTIC MICKEY MANTLE 1969 TOPPS # 500 WITH A VALUE OF OVER $500+ (UNSIGNED)). It is not that WL variation and is not worth over $500 unsigned. I doubt that card would sell for more than $100 raw and unsigned in that condition. The buyer was duped, caveat emptor. image

Edited to Add: I did a search of completed items (Mantle, 1969) and the most paid for a raw '69 Mantle recently was $125.00 (and this one was described as NM condition).

The only thing the seller was missing was Don West making the pitch! "You can't find this!!!!!!"

Not considering how much someone overpaid for this card, that is an awesome, bold auto.

I would rather have this. Bought one on eBay last year for $250 and it was in Gem Mint shape.
