Gold Rooster

I have recently been looking to purchase a French 20 Franc Gold rooster. I have some gold coins in my collection but they are all in slabs. I was advised to always buy gold US coins in slabs as they are often counterfieted. Although I cannot seem to find any slabbed roosters. Should I be concerned about buying these raw? Are there any fakes out there of these?

If anyone has a nice pic of one of these feel free to post. I think it is a very pretty coin.

I'm not sure about fakes, Steve, but there were restrikes of the roosters ... and I can't tell the difference between an original and a restrike

I'm not aware of them being counterfeited, but I have seen them offered in slabs, both PCGS and NGC.
