Have you ever had anything similar happen in a coin shop?

I went in to this shop last weekend and I was the only one there other than the guy behind the counter. I looked around a little and asked to see a nice mercury dime that he had under the glass, he opened the cabinet lifted out the entire tray which had several different coins on it and sat them on the counter.
Now this is when things got strange. With the cabinet door still unlocked, keys hanging in the lock, he goes over and sits down in a chair. After maybe thirty seconds I hear him snoring... snoring loudly, this guy is out like a light. I went ahead and looked through all the coins that he sat out there, (probably another 5 minutes), and he's still sleeping.
After clearing my throat loudly a couple of times, I finally said in a loud voice "I'LL TAKE THIS ONE" and he jerked his head back and got up. I felt kind of like an ahole yelling at this guy to get his attention but if you're that tired, go home and get some sleep. He had some very nice coins with good prices and I did purchase the mercury dime. My question is, how does someone like this keep from getting robbed blind.

I can say last weekend I was going thru a big box of Halves, there where some 1921's in there so not all junk, and he just went back to his desk and wasn't watching me so.
Now the guy more or less knows me so.

Most folks are honest. Generally it is not a problem.
