I noticed from a very recent thread regarding Overstock.com auctions. I took the liberty of checking out their site. Pretty decent selection of coins and currency, thought not in the vast quanity that eBay has. But I noticed something that I though was interesting - the fees to list items on there are cheaper that eBay. With all the negative press about eBay circulating, I'm suprised that they're aren't more people on there.
What does everyone on the forum think of Overstock.com auctions?

As for Overstock.com's fees, just being lower is not enough to attract more auction listings. You also need a steady volume of buyers, and it becomes a chicken-and-egg argument. Perhaps the key would be for Overstock.com to spend some money marketing itself as a preferred venue for coin auctions, linking up with the ANA, PNG, or some other recognizable and respected (by many, at least) organization. I do not know if it will ever happen.
<< <i>I think ebay has a pretty wide economic moat, and it will be difficult for another auction company to come in and compete. Big pockets like yahoo! and Amazon.com have tried with very limited success (or failure--depending on how you look at it). Well, if eBay keeps screwing people the way they're doing on its coin auctions, it can happen!
