Grading of Autographed cards question

Can someone clarify how these cards need to be submitted. I see that autographed cards need to be submitted under a particular service level. Are certified autographs like the ones you might pull from a pack of cards lumped together with personally obtained autographs? Just seems silly to me to have restricted service options for certified auto'd cards from the manufacturer.

Thanks in advance

1998-present certified autos can be submitted as regular cards.

Autographed cards dated pre-1998 and/or those not directly from manufacturer must be sent through the Autographed Card Grading and Authentication Service (PSA/DNA).

By that reply, I assume an auto'd 2000 SPX Tony Gwynn SPXSIGNATURES can be submitted as a "Modern" card, even though it says exclues autographed cards in the description of that service?

    Next question.........

If I have a 1972 Topps card of George Foster which I recently got autographed (By George Foster......of course) and that card is submitted and authenticated by PSA/DNA...............can i then somehow add the card to my PSA Registered set?

Does the card get graded or just authenticard?
