What is the difference between the series 1 and series 2? Were these boxes ever factory sealed? Does anyone have any wax or sets for sale or trade??
Also, what's up with stadium club dome?

You also might find floating around somewhere "pre-production" sample cards, which were oversized cards with the same images of certain players like Ryan, Dave Stewart, Paul Molitor I think I've seen, maybe a couple others. They are also distinguished by a lack of foil stamping. I've heard that they really weren't proofs or whatnot, but cards stolen off the production line. I know one of the comic shops back in PK, which also did a little cards and was owned by a kind of shady character, had dozens of uncut sheets that were missing the foil.
I love the 1991 TSC set. That was the year I got back into cards and was blown away by it. It was also extremely expensive for the time. In Poughkeepsie, there was only a couple shops that carried it, and they both charged $5 per pack. Singles were ridiculous, like $10 for a Ryne Sandberg. But I bought 2 packs that first day, being flush with my summer job at IBM. I pulled a Frank Thomas. Then I found a Beckett and saw that it was a $35 card. I bought a few more packs of series 1, but kept with Leaf and Ultra as they were a little cheaper, and I bought about 10 packs of regular Topps every day. But I think that TSC card was what made me a Thomas collector.
If you really want to get a complete set, you also have to get the Members Only set, the keychain, and the bronze Ryan. But that's another story.

I recently found a stack of SC and Ultra football cards in cardsavers that I had put aside for future submittal. I went to take the cards out to transfer them to penny sleeves and every one was stuck to the cardsaver. The ones I did pry from the plastic left a slight "ghost" imprint of the card on the cardsaver.
Regardless of these problems, SC is a great product. Inexpensive, with hi quality photography. Landmark brand in that it also raised the bar of what a premium card should look like.
The '89 and '90 UD certainly cut into the profit margin, and Stadium Club was their answer. The Ryan tux card
was part of the set. There were several very expensive cards in the set, with Frank Thomas being the highest.
These boxes are not factory sealed. The set seemed to fall out of popularity rather quickly. Cost, over-
production, not sure of the reason. Still have my box from Topps with the Ryan Medallion, key chain, and
limited edition cards. Regardless, the cards (photographs) are outstanding. 86nova (Craig)
