i havent submitted to PSA in a LONG time. They went to the SF Tristar show....so, i sent some cards in.
Results and other notes are as follows:
1968 Topps Harmon Killebrew: PSA 8. Got this card raw from a dealer on Ebay. He described the card as NM+. Looks like he was correct! Bought the card cheap, too.
1963 Fleer Willie Mays: PSA 8 (OC). This was originally a SGC 84 (7). I wanted to cross this over to PSA and get a 7. I put "NQ" on the form, but obviously they didnt recognize it (guess i needed to spell it out).
1963 Topps Brooks Robinson: PSA 6. I sort of knew this was a 6 given its corners, but i thought the fantastic surface and 50-50 centering would push the eye appeal up to a PSA 7. Bought this card in a shop a few months ago at NM value. ouch.
1964 Topps Mickey Mantle: PSA 7. I bought this card as a SGC 84. The corners, edges and centering are fantastic. But, the surface is not. I was gambling on a PSA 8, but still happy with the 7.
2001 Topps Traded Chrome Albert Pujols RC: PSA 9. Got this card at a shop for NM value. Pretty happy with the results. My only modern card graded.
1960 Topps Hank Aaron: PSA 7. Pretty happy with this result. I bought this card raw off ebay from a seller describing it as NM. I was a little suspect that the card might be trimmed. So, ecstatic about this result.
1960 Topps Sandy Koufax: PSA 7. Ditto above. Thought it was trimmed.
1960 Fleer Ty Cobb: PSA 7. This one blew me away. I for sure thought this was a 5. But, someone told me to submit because it looks like a 7. Bought this card raw on ebay.
In sum, im dissapointed about the two Mays cards (one i should have made clear i wanted NO QUALIFIERS and the other i should have kept it in the SGC holder) and the robinson card (thought it might get a 7). The rest of the cards were either at my expectations or above. In case anyone is keeping track of SGC to PSA crossovers...
Mays 63 Fleer SGC 84 -> PSA 8 (OC)
Mays 59 Topps SGC 84 -> PSA 6
Mantle 63 Topps SGC 85 -> PSA 7
