Foreign matter within a slab

LongacreLongacre Posts: 16,717 ✭✭✭
I am sure there have been threads on this already. I bought a slabbed coin from a very large retailer (on-line purchase). The coin is pretty inexpensive (less than $100). It's in an NGC slab. When I looked at it closely at an angle, there appears to be some sort of foreign matter between the edge of the coin and the white insert that holds the coin. The only way to describe it is that it looks like a piece of hard glue. The other option is it may be part of the grader's lunch. Is there anything that I can do about this, assuming that the return period for the seller has expired? Thanks.

I believe NGC will reslab it for $6.

You might also try NGC's customer service department. They might make it right at no cost.

Buyer and seller of vintage coin boards!
  • If it looks like the same color as the white NGC insert it's just part of the slab.I have seen what I believe you are talking about before. After all I believe all slabs are blown before being sealed.
  • Had this problem a few times, White Slabs. Call NGC, tell them the problem, if it's on the inside of the slab they should re-slab at no cost and no shipping charge (Quality Control Problem) Good Luck .....Also get the name of the person on the phone...
